-The Details-

Wine! Let’s sample some local VEGAN wines and let someone else do the driving!  We will meet in the parking lot of At Home in the Millcreek Mall Complex to board the Flagship Trolley at noon.  We will then travel to four local wineries: Arrowhead Wine Cellars, Courtyard Winery, Mazza Vineyards, and Lakeview Wine Cellars.  All wineries on the tour offer a selection of vegan-friendly wines. Tasting fees are included with your ticket price.  Our driver will introduce our group and take care of our tasting fees as we enter each winery, so we don’t have to worry about the details! Everyone is welcome to bring any vegan snacks, lunches, and non-alcoholic beverages for your enjoyment while you travel.  Our driver graciously accepts gratuities at the end of our tour. If you are not staying for dinner, the trolley will transport you back to the mall parking lot at this time.

Dine! Our fabulous day will end at Like My Thai (827 State St, Erie) for a delicious vegan, gluten-free, buffet dinner!  If you are joining us for dinner only, we will meet at Like My Thai at 5:30 p.m.  The menu is as follows:

Have you ever thought about the fact that sugar is in the foods you consume every day?  Do you realize the impact hidden sugars can have on your health?  Do you know how much sugar your child is consuming?

Individuals who drink one to two sugar-sweetened beverages per day have a 26 percent higher risk for developing type II diabetes. (
source)

"You're supposed to eat six to nine teaspoons a day - or that's the safe threshold, according to the American Heart Association, but there's hidden sugar in everything," Couric said. "Of the 60,000 products in the grocery store, 80 percent have added sugar." (

In the United States, it is estimated that 93 million Americans are affected by obesity. (

More than 9 million adolescents (children and teens 6-19 years old) are considered overweight. (

The creators of this film uncover why - despite media attention, the public's fascination with appearance, and government policies to combat childhood obesity - generations of American children will now live shorter lives than their parents did. (

This documentary could forever change the way you eat!  To learn more about nutrition, healthy eating habits, obesity rates, and ways to identify and eliminate the unneeded sugar from your diet, join The Erie Vegan and Vegetarian Society at the viewing of “Fed Up” on Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 1 - 4 at the Whole Foods Co-operative.

Attending teachers from any K-12 school can register to receive a Fed Up Food Education Kit which includes a copy of the film and a comprehensive curricular resources package.
